i discovered a lot of songs i hadn't heard. when i was a kid, my dad liked (and still likes ) neil's music, and i thought it was wack. I think this is the first neil diamond cd i actually bought. before this i was only familiar with the big hits. now that i am older and after a few listens of 'hot august night', i can honestly say i am a neil diamond fan. a lot of great tunes on here the band sounds great. standout tunes on this collection are : play me, canta libre, walk on water, solitary man, cryin in your pretzels, and red red wine (way cooler than ub40's version). pick this disc up, you won't be disappointed
Classic Neil Diamond with two additional tracks the original release didn't have. Remastered and sounds awesome.
Listening to the remaster after all these years is pretty impressive. If you're a gen-x'er like me, your parents had this record and you probably heard it many times. If you're a boomer, you bought it when it came out.Even for those that may not care for these kinds of pop stylings, it would be tough not to love this record. The recording sounds better than it did before and it really showcases Diamond as a showman and the AMAZING backing band that helped to make this a must-own set.I'm generally a rock and roll kind of guy, but I still love this timeless album. 5 stars for sure.
Hot August Night has become a collector's item. Out of all singers and song writers, I do beleive that Neil Diamond is one of the top 10 great musical genius's.
This early concert at the Greek theatre in Los Angeles is a marvel to hear. Neil Diamond is amazing, amazing and amazing.
This music of course has become the favorites of all his fans and have brought him such love and fame and attention to his song writing skills. His voice is still strong after all those years, but this DVD is a real treat.
I was not in the audience at that time but I could feel the beauty of the show. He loves to write, and as he says, "he must write", so we are the lucky people to be able to hear his songs from long ago, and even now, how he has become even better, and his music has grwon with all of us.
I am so glad I got mine.
I hear this first at at party in DC when it first came out in the 70s. Reflects the singer-songwriter's creativity, musical prowess, stage presence. What a celebration, what a party, what music. It's just terrific, has broad appeal, makes you want to get up out of your chair and stay there.especially Soulaimon. Timeless, sounds as good today as it did then. Required listening.
